6th GKSS School on Environmental Research

The School is designed for diploma and PhD students and Postdocs with a background of meteorology, climate science, earth science, geology, or physical oceanography.

Lecce (40° 21' N, 18° 10' E) is a city in the Italian province Apulia at the south-eastern tip of Italy. It is more than 200 years old and is called "The Florence of the south". The temperature in October should be around 20 °C. The School will be held in the Hotel delle Palme in Via Leuca 90, in 10 min walking distance to the city.

The nearest airport is Brindisi. From there, a bus line goes to Lecce, central bus station, every 2-3 hours. The departure times of the bus are (end of September): 6:30, 8:50, 11:05, 13:00, 15:10, 17:50, 19:05, 20:50, and 23:15.

Götz Flöser will pick up the participants from the bus station, so please send your arrival details to him or Mrs. Liesner.

It is also possible to arrive by train; the train station is about 1.2 km from the hotel.
